REALLY.  If you have an aversion to GROSS pictures,
don’t look at this.  Just move on!  :) Ok.  Explanation.
My friend Robert is a hockey player,  and I guess they
are pretty tough athletes (that’s why we like hockey
players,  right?).  SO, on the night of January 18th,
I get a call–”meet me at Rose, I’ve been cut”.
Translation: “My ankle got sliced open by another
guy’s skate”.   Here comes the gross part!!!!!!!!
mellyfootcutx.jpg
NICE CUT, RIGHT?

Now retired skate.  Look at the laces……

BACK on the ice, Jan. 25th.  One week later!
Seriously!  This is not the pros Robert, take a week
OFF I say.  NOT.

Remember how excitied I was about riding the Zamboni machine at the Rocky Mountain Rage hockey game last week? Here are the pictures to prove I did it, boy that was fun.  I’m going back on the 15th of February and they are going to let me drive the thing… WOW.  If I’m good at it I think I have a future when radio says good-bye.  Thanks again to Jennifer Reifman and gang with the Rage…

I got this email from a listener…Thank You!

Good Morning Denise,

I feel bad when I hear you getting dissed for not cooking so here is a receipe that is mostly shopping.

Denise’s Chicken (if they like it) or French Chicken if they don’t

from the deli area of the grocery store

1 – 2 pkgs of pre-dooked grilled chicken strips

1 pkg pre-cooked pasta

1 container Allouette (garlic is best-don’t use one of the sweet ones) light or regular

from bakery

1 loaf french bread

from freezer section

1 bag frozen veggies (steamers are the easiest)

At home

Prepare pasta and veggies per directions

In a skillet (frying pan)

add Allouette to chicken and warm until Allouette is melted – you can thin (stretch with fat free sour cream or fat free 1/2 & 1/2)

Slice bread

Now- if this is just for the kids you can use any veggie they’ll eat and can serve as 3 different items or mix pasta & chicken before serving

Use a fancier veggie -like asparegus- if it’s for adults and you can even add capers to the top of the chicken platter to make it look REALLY fancy.

WELL, IS IT?  Ha ha ha.  I am cracking
myself up here!  This is what dentists say
on the subject of FRESH BREATH!!!!!!!!!!
1)  Brush 2 full minutes 3 x a day.  The
average 13 seconds is not enough!!!!!!!
2)  Drink 8 glasses of water a day to replenish
oxygen-rich saliva.
3)  Breathe through your nose to avoid dry mouth!
4)  Avoid alcohol.  It dries the mouth!!!
5)  Floss every day!
6)  Avoid dairy, it converts to sulphur compounds
by bacteria.
7)  Limit coffee.  Acid helps bacteria reproduce
faster.  Tea is a better choice.
8)  Clean your tongue.
9)  Chew a piece of gum before you GO IN
for the kiss on Valentine’s Day!!!!!!!!!

Found this while reading Glamour…good tips.“Lose” five pounds by matching your pants or skirt, stockings and shoes. You’ll seem 10 pounds lighter if they’re all black! Is the one-color thing too tame for your taste? Slip on a pair of bright shoes to shake things up.Full, round shapes on top andbottom will make you look…full and round. So always accentuate your smallest part by pairing your more generously cut pieces with a snugger mate. Balance a full skirt with a fitted shirt, a flowy blouse with pencil-thin jeans, a miniskirt with a longer top.Jackets that are hip-length with tailored lines will look sleek; ones that are too baggy or that pull are figure-flattery disasters. Tapered jackets will always whittle your waist. The tailored cut of a pencil skirt (we love that it’s not skintight through the hips) makes all bodies look sleek. A-line ones work wonders on anyone whose thighs are a little heavier.Waist-length cardigans tend to shorten your body while long, hip-grazing versions make torsos seem long.Ever wonder why you see this look again and again on celebs, in ads, in magazines? Because, done right, it makes every woman look longer and leaner. Most flattering: straight-leg or boot-cut jeans that sit on your hips (as opposed to at your waist or below your hipbone) and cover your instep when you’re in heels.

Try one with a little nylon stretch that comfortably pulls you in. Wider belts instead of skinny ones will actually make you look smaller.

Look for these flattering pants features:

  • Flat-front styles. They’re instant minimizers if you’re curvy. Unlike pleats, a flat front creates an unbroken line across your stomach—making you look taller and slimmer.
  • A waistband between one and two inches wide. Narrower ones can divide (and draw attention to) a tummy bulge.
  • A slight flare. These have long been a top seller for a reason: They make hips look slimmer.
  • A smidge of stretch. It helps pants hold on to the clean, sharp fit you bought them for.

It’s one dress everyone looks great in. They’re usually constructed with darts at the bust, curve-enhancing seams and a shaped waist—all sveltering features. In its deeper-hued incarnations, it absorbs light and therefore conceals just as well as darker (but not as exciting) colors. And because it is a color associated with power, your bold confidence in wearing it is ultimately the most figure-flattering trick of all.

Prints aren’t as slimming as solid colors, but you can make them work for you by playing up their camouflaging features. If you’re bigger on the bottom, try pairing a printed A-line dress with a pair of black tights. The golden rule of prints: The smaller the print, the smaller you look.

Anything that cuts you off at the waist adds pounds. You’ll look slimmer if your top and bottom meet just below the waist. It’s not as slimming as black, but it’s such a nice break from it—and if you keep the look fairly monochromatic, it can actually work nearly as well for you. Proportion is key; a loose white blouse with billowy sleeves begs for slim white jeans, while a -length white coat calls for simple but bold-hued separates.

baby-girl.jpgGreat news today, our baby Sadie finally arrived at 2am this morning.  Our son Sam and his great wife Sarah are the proud parents.  Sadie is 7 lbs 9 ounces, 19 inches long and head full of black hair, which is Sarah’s color.  As you might know, she was a week late and we were getting a bit nervous.  I have to admit Carol and I are spoiled, our first 2 granchildren were born here and we were right there for the whole event.  Well, Sam and Sarah live in the Bay area and we have not been that involved this time.  They have done a great job in calling us with updates and emailing pictures.  It’s not the same as having them right down the road.  This was really tough on Carol, so needless to say she had me book a flight for Friday to get out there and meet Sadie.  I will have pictures soon to share, in the mean time I will have to show Sam how to change a diaper.  Ok I wasn’t the best, but I tried.  If they were really bad ones I would just hose them down and hope it would wash off!!   KIDDING!!!.. I’ll keep you posted.  Thanks for your concern.

hair-apray.jpgI do this feature everyday on our show called ‘Around the Watercooler’.  Basically it is little interesting tidbits information or weird stories.  Today I found that over a lifetime a woman will spend about $54,000 on hair products and keeping her hair nice. Are you kidding me! That can’t be right, can it?  I can’t imagine what you’re buying and doing to your hair that is going to add up to that amount. What do you think guys? We might spend a total of $500.00 over a life time on our hair, and that’s not including mousse.  I’ll bet you’re surprised I can spell that word!!  $54,000.. that is just nuts.  How much hairspray do you need?… won’t spray Pam work just as well?  With that kind of money I could go to alot of Av’s games!!… OH!.. but that is about me!!.. never mind!!
